Urban Legend #1 Cover
This is an idea that I’ve had for a long time. Originally, I wanted this to be an animated show about a super-hero named Urban Legend in the predominantly black (Yeah, black. I was black for thirty-something years before somebody decided that I was African-American. I’m perfectly fine being black) city of Hoodlyn. UL (secret identity: Dre Jenkins) would square off against various super-villains like Percy (Pimp Hand) Strong, The Man, Twisted Sista, 5ive Slamma Jamma (a b-ball themed group), BBC (Big Black COP) and, pictured above, JiggaBoom, amongst others. Obviously this would be a non-PC goof. UL would also have some fellow heroes like Brotha Hood, Black Hammer and The Airman. I even wrote the script for the first episode. But a comic book take on it seemed more realistic. Honestly, it would take me forever to draw a whole comic. So I’m going to be doing covers of issues I have in my head instead just to get them out there.

Three different mascot/logo ideas for my son’s school here in Jersey. All the kids, parents and faculty got to vote and after much wrangling, they went with the first one.

Been too long, working on other crap. Here’s a new sketch of the original Captain Christopher Pike as played by Jeffrey Hunter.

When I submitted my Cornered art to Jon Morris who runs that site, I told him that I would love to see him tackle Adventure Time Cover parodies. He had done some cool DC adventure time characters and I thought he would do a great Batman Adventure Time or Amazing Adventure Time cover parody. And then I decided to try one myself. So I chose the famous Gil Kane cover for Amazing Adventures #12. Not sure how this came out but here it is! Maybe I’ll try a Adventure Comics with a Superboy/Legion cover next…

The Cornered Blog is a really cool site run by Jon Morris, a cartoonist who’s work I like a lot. The site basically has art, done by anybody, that pays homage to the comic book corner art of old Marvel and DC comics. But you can do a character that never had one, or a comic from another publisher. So I was thumbing through a box of my old comics and came across Super-Soldier #1, the Marvel-DC Amalgam one shot that came out (WOW) almost 16 years ago. Perfect. Had a lot of fun doing this and plan to submit more. Next up: the Iron Man/Green Lantern hybrid Iron Lantern.
